Marina Controversy Continues to Roil Township
The controversy over the management of the Elmwood Township marina continues. The report on an aborted insurance company investigation into the Marina was short but provided some startling pieces of evidence the Marina was badly mismanaged from 2001-2004. According to marina users interviewed for the investigation:
Marina users were urged to pay their bills in cash, rather than in checks; and discounts were offered to those who did [particularly worrisome given that during these years Marina bookeeping was sloppy or non-existent)
Discounts and other favors were widely distributed by the Marina management; in at least one case, a marina user was alleged to have returned the favor by working on a manager's care at no charge.
