Deri wins!
Elmwood Township Supervisor Deri Smith enjoyed a 687-586 margin in turning back a recall effort mounted by her political foes. Former Supervisor Noel Flohe and former trustee John Stanek, both of whom had been ousted by Elmwood voters in 2004, had organized a campaign against Smith that included multiple mailings and yard signs.
"I am so very relieved that we can finally put this recall ordeal behind us," said Smith, who pledged to put the divisive campaign behind and to work together with all members of the community. "Its time for us to focus now on doing our jobs, to stop playing games, and to produce something constructive for Elmwood."
